​​​What documents to Bring

Making sure you bring the proper documents with you before you come to Canada will make your arrival go as smoothly as possible. You should bring: 

 

  • Passport

  • Adoption papers​

  • Birth certificates for all family members

  • Marriage certificates, separation papers and divorce papers

  • A detailed list of all the personal or household items.  you will need bringing with and make 2 copies. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada provides more information on what you can and cannot bring into Canada

  • 2 copies of a list of items that will be coming with  you and their value

  • School diplomas and degrees, or trade or professional papers and certificates

  • Certified immunization records for all children under the age of 16 - these are required before children can be registered to attend school

  • Driver's licence if you have one in your country - your foreign driver's licence is valid for 90 days after you arrive in Canada

  • An original document in English or French to prove you have a driver's licence from the country where you were driving. If you cannot show acceptable proof of your driving experience, you will be considered a new driver​. If you cannot show acceptable proof of your driving experience, you will be considered a new driver.
