The Steering Committee

  • To determine the vision, create the strategic plan, set the priorities and direct the work of all members of the Halton Newcomer Strategy

  • To promote, advocate, influence and mobilize resources in support of the working groups and ensure the priorities and objectives of the Halton Newcomer Strategy are met

 

 The Service Coordination Working Group

  • To identify, recommend and support activities and initiatives that address gaps to improve awareness, access and effectiveness of programs and services for newcomers in Halton Region

  • To assist organizations that serve newcomers to enhance their capacity, the quality of their delivery of service and coordination of existing service

 

The Equity Working Group

  • To promote and improve equity in the community and within organizations/service providers that support the settlement and integration of newcomers to Halton Region

  • To identify, recommend, support and undertake activities and initiatives that improve equity for newcomers in Halton Region

  • To share and support the notion of an equity and inclusivity lens through promoting equity and inclusion in all the work HNS does

 

The Employment Working Group

  • To enhance the readiness and capacity of employers to access and retain newcomer talent and support employer education on the benefits of hiring newcomers and increasing the diversity of Halton Regions workforce

  • To improve the opportunities for newcomers to Halton Region, to find and retain quality employment commensurate with their skills, experience and qualifications
